The new first-time buyer scheme starting in 2027
Based on the details currently available, the scheme is for buying an eligible new-build home with a 2.5% deposit. The government would provide a 20% equity loan, and you would take out a mortgage for the remaining 77.5%.
Full applications are expected to open in February 2027, with the first equity loans expected from April 2027. Scheme rules and timings can change, so we'll always point you to the latest official guidance.
